Kayla & Brooks | March 16, 2024

I’m so excited to share Kayla and Brooks’ wedding today! Held at One Eleven East, Kayla and Brooks cultivated a sweet, Italian-inspired wedding. They were such a joy to work with and not to mention, always had the biggest smiles on their faces. Let’s dive in!

A couple dressed in wedding attire shares a kiss on a city sidewalk. The bride holds a bouquet and wears a veil, while the groom is in a dark suit. The setting appears to be outside of a building.

How did you two meet?

We met in college after both deciding to keep playing soccer. It was the classic soccer party where we ended up playing beer pong and the rest was history.

What was the inspiration for your wedding day?

The main inspiration around the wedding day was just a big party with our favorite colors, food, and family/friends.

Why did you choose your wedding venue?

We chose the wedding venue because it fit our personality and what we envisioned on our day. Absolutely can not picture us as barn or ranch people. The modern simplicity of the venue made us feel like you wouldn’t have to do much but let the space speak for itself.

Tell us more about your wedding style and theme.

Simple, modern. With a slight Italian-ish theme. Wine, pasta, and lots of greenery.

What was the inspiration behind the colors you chose for your wedding?

They are some of our favorite colors. We both have numerous clothing articles that are maroon and olive green. On top of that who doesn’t love red wine and eucalyptus-scented anything.

A banquet table is set with white plates, folded napkins, gold cutlery, and glasses. A red runner with green foliage and red flowers decorates the center. Bright, natural light fills the room.

What were you struggling with when it came to finding a wedding planner for your wedding?

When trying to find a wedding planner it was difficult trying to find a balance between showing an ability to keep organized and reassuring us that personalities would mesh. Versus feeling overwhelmed with too much information and a sales pitch like we were going to buy a timeshare.

Why did you decide to work with our company?

Sydney was 100% the reason. She was so friendly from the moment we first touched base. Her ability to provide her expertise while also supporting our choices was appreciated. Additionally, the planning tools and resources made the organization so easy.

What was your favorite part of the planning process?

By far would be getting to pick the menu and figure out signature drinks. We spent a week making different cocktail recipes and got to reflect on the milestone that was coming.

What was your least favorite part of the planning process?

Least favorite part would have to be trying to plan a day focused around you and your opinions while also taking into consideration the opinions of others. Trying to not have others feel left out or unimportant.

What were some meaningful touches you incorporated into your wedding and why?

Getting to include my brother who has autism in the wedding and formal speeches. My brother has obviously impacted not only my life but our relationship and marriage. Having so many of our soccer teammates that have gotten to watch us grow up the last ten years.

A group of people seated at a long wooden table raises glasses in a toast at a festive event in a warmly lit room, decorated with candles and greenery.

What has stood out to you about our work together?

The organization, timeliness of correspondence, and how we felt In Ink was always rooting for us.

What would you say to someone thinking about hiring us as their wedding planner?

That Sydney and her team at In Ink Weddings truly do care about making your day about you. That even when we would be a little stressed it always felt manageable. Shoot it poured five hours before our ceremony and cocktail hour was still set up outside and not a second thought was wasted on that.

What was your favorite moment from your wedding day?

There were several highlight moments for us. Getting to write and say our own personal vows to each other before the ceremony. Having the first look be at the altar. When our ring bearer dropped one of the rings in his pocket during the ceremony and we had to search for it. Lastly, getting to spend a night dancing with our friends and not worry about anything else.

Cheers to many years, Kayla and Brooks! Cannot wait to see the amazing couple you two continue to grow to be. See you around town! 🙂
