The countdown is officially on! You are about 12 months out from your dream Austin wedding, but are you on track? Below are five tasks to kickstart your Austin wedding planning.
Hiring In Ink Weddings as your Full-Service Planner
If you haven’t hired a wedding planner at this point, this is your top priority! This is a friendly reminder that most Austin wedding venues require you to hire a wedding planner (or coordinator) before your wedding day. Another big perk of hiring your planner or coordinator as soon as you’ve booked your venue is having access to their recommended vendors. Instead of reinventing the wheel and doing needless vendor research, check out the tried and true vendors your planner recommends.

Booking your Caterer
I advise couples to book their catering companies 12-14 months before your wedding date – they truly are a backbone to your day! By booking this far out, you’ll have plenty of time to review their menus/rental items and complete your tasting before your wedding day!
Begin Wedding Dress Shopping
At In Ink Weddings, we recommend starting wedding dress shopping about 12 months in advance of your date! This way, you will see what is in style for your wedding and have plenty of time to shop around and get alterations completed without any rush. (Because let’s be honest, the stress of ordering your dress 6 months out, waiting to receive it, and having time for alterations is stressful AF.)
Planning for Engagement Photos
By this point, you should be in the final stages of choosing your wedding photographer and talking about dates for your engagement photos! Most couples use these photos on their Save the Dates, so it is essential to complete them around 10-12 months before your wedding.
Hiring a Florist
If you haven’t started looking for florists or begun collecting proposals, now is the time to do so! This allows for ample time to shop around, gather proposals, and hire someone that aligns with your design dreams. Another reason why we encourage booking your florist early on is that while your planner handles much of your wedding design, your florist also plays an integral part in this process and helps with creating mock-ups to fully realize the wedding day vision.
Suppose you have completed all of these to-do’s; YAY! You are on top of it! If you haven’t, there is no need to panic. However, I recommend making a few lists, scheduling a few meetings, and checking things off your list! Your Austin wedding is quickly approaching, and we want you to be set up for success!
