Kaitlyn & Tucker | January 26, 2024 | Winter, Earthy, Organic

*Pinch me I must be dreaming.* I (a wedding planner) had the opportunity to work with Kaitlyn (another fellow event planner)??? To say supporting her and Tucker for their wedding day couldn’t have made my type-A self happier if I tried, is an understatement. Ha! 😉 I’m so excited to share their earthy, organic winter wedding at the One Eleven East historic venue in Hutto, TX. Let’s jump in!

How did you two meet?

Tucker and I met on Bumble! We matched in early February and set up a date for the following week. Two days before we were scheduled to meet in person, Texas was going to be hit with a major ice storm that shut down the city for several days that inevitably canceled our date. He ghosted me about a week later before we could reschedule and I thought that was it, but he reached back out early May to apologize for the disappearing act and the rest is history. We’ve been inseparable ever since!

Silly boys. I’m glad Tucker wised up. 😉

What was the inspiration for your wedding day at the One Eleven East Venue?

We wanted our day to feel like an intimate extension of our personalities. Our goal was for our guests to leave our wedding and say “that was perfect for them!” We wanted to be able to engage with all of our guests throughout the weekend, so we were very intentional with our guest list. Maintaining the personal boundary of a small guest list meant we would be surrounded by those who were pivotal in our lives as individuals as we began our journey as partners in life. We wanted all of our guests to feel and experience the love, the overwhelming joy, the comedy, and the fun we have experienced in our everyday lives as a couple throughout our wedding weekend and I wholeheartedly believe we achieved that. The energy was electric!

Why did you choose One Eleven East as your wedding venue?

I found One Eleven East on Instagram several months before we got engaged and immediately knew that was the place for us. It was light/bright from the windows with gorgeous wood floors, an industrial flair, and a beautiful courtyard. I distinctly remember the moment during our tour when we walked into the Skylight room where our ceremony would take place and it took our breath away.

Tucker said, “Whoa, I get it now. This is it.”

Tell us more about your wedding style and theme.

Words like earthy, organic, and minimalist best explain the style I envisioned. The bare-bones of the venue were stunning as is and my design style fit and accentuated the space perfectly. Something as simple as adding loose greenery to the staircase and bar shelves was all that was needed to add my personal touch to those spaces. Seeing all the décor elements come together and seamlessly complement the venue on the wedding day was amazing!

What was the inspiration behind the colors you chose for your One Eleven East wedding venue?

I gravitate towards neutral, earth tones in everyday life, so it was an easy choice for a color palette. We steered our design selections towards taupe, a soft brown, terracotta, and olive green with pops of a rich burgundy, because you can’t have an Aggie wedding without maroon!

In addition to our design details, I asked our guests to come dressed within the color palette. I’ve always loved seeing weddings where all black attire was requested and would have loved to do this, but it felt too formal for us! This was the perfect happy medium.

What were you struggling with when it came to finding a wedding planner for your wedding?

It was super important to us to that we had genuine, trustworthy, experienced vendors on our team that aligned with our personalities. With challenging family dynamics, bold personalities in our friend groups, and my personal experience in the event industry, we were searching for someone with a sense of humor who was capable of managing our people and someone I trusted to execute my vision. It was imperative for me to feel comfortable enough with our planner to take a step back from being a planner and into the role of a BRIDE. This proved to be quite a mission, but I felt like I would instinctively know when we met the right person!

Why did you decide to work with us at the One Eleven East wedding venue?

Seeing my husband’s energy and interest during our consultation in comparison to previous calls was the first thing I noticed – he was comfortable enough to joke around with her right off the bat. He’s not one to come out of his shell right away, so this was the first sign that Syd was our girl. We had the same sense of humor and by the end of the call, it felt like we had been friends for years. It was the easiest ‘yes’ for us during the planning process!

What was your favorite part of the planning process?

My favorite part of the planning process was curating the perfect menu for the occasion. I’ve spent the last three and a half years working for the premiere caterer in Houston, so my expectations for our caterer and food quality were lofty. Working on a menu built around our preferences and vision for this element was such a fun, refreshing change of pace! (Check out Soho Catering – they’re killer!)

What was your least favorite part of the planning process?

Balancing the budget is not as fun when it’s your own money! I’m a pro at working with budgets of all scales for my clients and pride myself on being a value-driven planner/producer, so I thought it would be one of the easier tasks throughout the planning process. It was much more of a challenge than anticipated!

What were some meaningful touches you incorporated into your wedding?

We were definitely the most intentional with our music selections. We spent the better part of our year-long engagement searching for songs that fit our vibe for each significant moment throughout the celebration. We hunted for unique covers of classic songs like “Stand by Me” by Florence + the Machine for our processional and songs that incorporated both of our tastes in music for months. This was by far the most time-intensive thing for us, but it was SO worth it. Some of our favorite memories from the wedding have a meaningful soundtrack to them that we’ll remember for the rest of our lives.

What has stood out to you about our work together?

The notion that Syd was on our team no matter what and without judgment. Every single thing that we discussed as a personal need, a hard boundary, an “ick”, or OCD preferences for tablescapes was taken to heart and implemented on the wedding day. From ensuring we were able to eat dinner amongst our guests without any interruptions, to something as simple as making sure we were the ones to open our late-night coffee cart, our desires came to fruition.

What would you say to someone thinking about hiring us as their wedding planner?

Go for it – you won’t regret it! Her personality, positive energy, professionalism, attention to detail and work ethic perfectly aligned with what I needed – another me. She has the most calm, get s*** done attitude and never missed a beat during the planning process. The absolute MAGIC in the atmosphere and our experience on wedding day would not have been achieved without her at the helm of our vendor team!

Couldn’t have done it without the most amazing bride to work with! <3

What was your favorite moment from your wedding day?

The moment that stands out the most when thinking back to our wedding is the feeling that came over us immediately after we were introduced as husband and wife for the first time. Walking back down the aisle with confetti in the air was an emotional high I will never forget!

That was one of my favorite memories too, Kaitlyn! I had such a blast celebrating you two and being by your side. A day for the One Eleven East wedding venue to remember! Cheers, Chapmans!
