A Sentimental Summer Weekend for Amy + Keegan’s Sage Hill Inn & Spa Wedding

Amy and Keegan came to their Sage Hill Inn & Spa wedding with one guiding principle. The day should feel less about projecting perfection and more about celebrating their marriage. With their favorite people, great food, music, and presence. Every decision they made followed from that single idea.

I’m Sydney, the founder of In Ink Weddings. I joined Amy and Keegan’s team in the final three months before their wedding day. They had already built something incredible. My role was to absorb the final logistics and keep everything moving, so they could walk into the day with nothing to manage.

In this post, I’m walking through their wedding day. I’m sharing the venue that matched their energy, the personal details guests are still talking about, and the night that ended with a dance floor that literally moved off its stage. Our Inspiration Was Less About Aesthetic and More About Feeling

When Amy and Keegan told me what they wanted from the day, I knew exactly what we were building. Their inspiration wasn’t a mood board or a color palette, it was a feeling. Amy shared:

“We knew we wanted our focus to be less about us projecting perfection, and more about celebrating our marriage with our favorite people with great food, music, and vibes!”

Honestly, that’s an excellent creative brief. It’s also exactly why they chose In Ink Weddings. Additionally, Amy said she loved our Messy Luxury™ approach. It resonated because the goal was never a luxurious wedding. The goal was to celebrate with intention, not performance.

When couples lead with feeling, every design decision gets easier. There’s a clear filter for each choice. Does this serve the feeling they’re after? If yes, it stays. If not, it goes.

Why Sage Hill Inn & Spa Was the Right Setting for Their Day

Sage Hill Inn & Spa sits in the Texas Hill Country, just outside Kyle. The property features old farmhouse bones, two-story porches, rolling land, and grounds that feel settled in a way only time creates.

For a couple whose inspiration was feeling over aesthetic, the venue did a lot of work on its own.

A few things that made Sage Hill the right call:

  • The ceremony lawn gave them an open sky and a natural backdrop that needed minimal additions.
  • The tented reception created a warm, enclosed environment built for a serious dance party.
  • The farmhouse atmosphere came with a lived-in character that matched their energy from the start.

If that’s not enough, Sage Hill Inn & Spa also has the most picturesque sunsets. During golden hour, The Hill Country sun creates a cinematic atmosphere that feels effortless and unconstructed. By the time dinner started and the tent filled with warmth, the energy shifted completely.

For couples who want their venue to carry a point of view, Sage Hill has one. It rewards couples who arrive with intention and trust the setting to do its part.

The Details That Were Completely Theirs

Amy and Keegan came in with their vision intact. What they filled the day with was their own creative DNA, and it showed in every corner of the event.

Mix-matched china.

Amy sourced and bought vintage, mismatched china for the tablescapes herself. The tables looked layered and considered. The kind of tablescape that takes real effort and reads exactly like it did.

A marigold margarita welcome.

As guests arrived and settled before the ceremony, they grabbed a “marigold” margarita. A specific, intentional choice that told guests what kind of day this was going to be.

A private letter exchange.

Before the ceremony, Amy and Keegan each retreated to a private room. They read letters they had written to each other. Guests mingled outside with margaritas in hand. Finally, the ceremony began from a place of private connection that had already happened between the two of them.

The bride walked herself down the aisle.

Amy glowed as she arrived on her own terms.

They photographed each other at the altar.

Once Amy reached the end of the aisle, she and Keegan each pulled out their cameras. They photographed each other from their own point of view. That moment, captured through their own eyes, belonged to them.

The groom’s jacket had custom lining and embroidery.

The inside of Keegan’s custom jacket said everything. A Monet water lily print lining. The words “Amy & Keegan, Always, All Ways” embroidered inside. It’s a detail just for the two of them.

Amy and Keegan’s grand entrance into the reception included a full outfit change. They walked in together dressed in matching traditional Vietnamese attire. The room met them with exactly the energy that moment deserved.

What Three-Month Coordination Looks Like with In Ink Weddings

Amy and Keegan hired In Ink Weddings as their wedding coordinator. They came in with a vision, a vendor team, and the big decisions already made. What they needed was someone to absorb the final logistics. Someone to make sure everything executed exactly as they’d planned it.

Amy shared:

“I hired Sydney as a three month coordinator, but she gave me a toolkit of trackers as soon as I signed our contract, about 9-10 months before our wedding day. These planning tools were so helpful and comprehensive. She took all of the information I added to the trackers and did everything she needed to do with very little input from me.”

That toolkit exists because I want clients to feel organized and clear, even before I officially step in. The earlier they have good tools, the smoother the handoff.

Amy described what the day itself actually felt like:

“Sydney made our lives SO EASY and everything looked so effortless, despite, I’m sure, the endless effort by her and her team. I don’t think I answered a single question on my wedding day, which was fabulous. For any big changes that needed my awareness, she would send a quick text to let me know and said she had it handled. And I fully trusted she did. Everything worked out beautifully.” — Amy

I firmly believe a couple should walk into their wedding day with empty hands and full attention. No questions to answer. No decisions to make. Just experiencing the day they have been dreaming up for year.

A Night That Delivered Everything They Wanted

At the end, Amy and Keegan had done exactly what they set out to do. There was no performance. It was just them celebrating their marriage with the people they loved most, a meal worth eating, and music worth dancing to until the floor gave way.

Amy said:

“[SYD] is worth every penny. Her vision is beautiful, she knows every detail to look for, and she puts ZERO pressure on you on your big day. She just gets it done.”
