Lena & Michael | May 13, 2023 | The Carpenter Hotel | Minimalist, White, Intimate

What better way to learn about what it’s like having a wedding at the Carpenter Hotel than from a previous couple, first hand? Today, we’re sharing Lena and Michael’s planning experience, inspiration, and all the details you need to know to celebrate at this intimate venue space.

As Lena shares, “We wanted a timeless and elegant approach to everything – the space really inspired the choices and we wanted to honor the architecture of the hotel. Lots of concrete, terracotta, and pecan wood + the lush greenery of the space made keeping things simple an easy choice.”

So, how did you two meet?

Through mutual friends at a triathlon! I was there to spectate and support friends and met Michael after he finished the swim section of the relay he was a part of. We didn’t exchange information but ended up bumping into each other the next week at a coffee shop.

Let me just *CASUALLY* insert that they ran the Boston Marathon a month before their wedding day. Bad. Asses.

What was your wedding inspiration?

We wanted our wedding to feel like a backyard wedding – intimate, cozy, close friends and family, and relaxed yet elegant!

Why did you choose the Carpenter Hotel?

We both love the Carpenter Hotel and the restaurant on site and knew that the available space would perfectly capture the aesthetic and atmosphere that we both love.

Tell us more about your wedding style and theme!

We kept to a very classic and simple style for the wedding. The ceremony and reception were both outside and the venue has a ton of great greenery and texture to it to begin with. We wanted the florals to compliment the modern space and feel like an extension of what was already there. Lots of lush greens and white. The space has great warm lighting and garden lights, and we brought in pillar candles for ambiance as well as a disco ball for the Q-Hut to keep things festive.

Did you have any unique moments for a Carpenter Hotel Wedding?

I wore my grandmother’s wedding dress for the reception and it was an incredibly special way to honor her and have her with me on our wedding day. Michael wore one of his father’s ties and cufflinks which were very sentimental and special to have as well. We used the same knife to cut the wedding cake that my parents used on their wedding day (it was engraved with their names & anniversary), and Michael wore a pair of custom-made shoes from his running shoe company!

Here’s what they had to say about our time together when bringing their Carpenter Hotel wedding to life:

What has stood out to you about our work together?

How easy it all felt! Sydney is an exceptional communicator, is extremely professional, and above all has a fun and easy going personality. We felt so taken care of during the time we worked together!

What would you say to someone thinking about hiring us as their wedding planner?

Don’t hesitate and look no further!! Best decision we made was having Sydney on our team for the wedding and we would not have had the smooth, relaxed, and fun night that we did had she not been there to keep things on schedule!

Why did you decide to work with our company?

We already had our photographer set, so I asked who she would recommend and enjoy working with for the wedding and she strongly suggested Sydney!

Lena, celebrating you and Michael was SUCH a blast.

And not just the day itself – I enjoyed getting to know you during the short time of us working together. I can confidently say you two are a power couple and will accomplish great things together. Thank you for being such sweet, incredible souls and allowing me to help bring your day to life! Cheers, Team Krajicek!
