Here’s the thing – having a wedding in Austin means you’re a design-forward individual with a nag for the city’s quirkiness. Meaning, you have to have the best of the best wedding venue to show off that side of your personality. Cue a Hotel Magdalena wedding!

Today, I’ll share the specs and details about this intimate wedding venue and what you can expect from an Austin wedding planner’s perspective.

First Impressions About Having A Hotel Magdalena Wedding

  1. While you’re in the middle of a bustling city, I love that the hotel feels so secluded and nestled away. Summer house vibes, a stunning pool, elegant eats, greenery for days, what more could you ask for? However, if you want to jump back into the cityscape, you’re just steps away from accessing South Congress and all the colorful shops, restaurants, and nightlife that come with it.
  2. This place is just so… COOL. You can tell the designers delicately handpicked every aspect of the hotel – from colorfully striped robes you’ll find in your suite to the iconic Summer House glass fish bottle.
  3. When it comes to event flow, they’ve got it down. The flow from the ceremony site to the reception space is *chef’s kiss*. More to come on that next.

The Layout

Picture this: ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception all in one seamless spot. Having a Hotel Magdalena Wedding means effortlessly keeping your guests together (without wondering too far like at some venues) but still allowing them breathing space. Your ceremony begins on the lush green lawn tucked within the hotel. From here, your guests exit the ceremony aisle into cocktail hour at the back of the lawn and patio area. Once your photos are all wrapped up, it’s time to transition into the reception space that connects from the lawn and patio.

The greenspace and event room are fairly neutral, making it easy to customize the areas with your bold, colorful ideas or to match it with a classic, neutral personality.

But, most importantly, I’m obsessed with the intricate wooden ceiling within the walls of the reception space.

My Opinion Of The Hotel Magdalena Wedding Staff

What a breeze to work with! I so, so appreciate a venue team that is not only professional but amazing with communication. (Yes, that’s the type A planner in me coming out needing to have a pulse on everything). What I can say is – they genuinely care about your wedding day and the vision you have for your celebration and your guests’ experience. I tell my clients, if you don’t feel like a vendor is excited for your day, don’t book them. Far from the case with Hotel Magdalena.
